Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Picknori ("the app") is made by the Picknori team ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app. The short version: your photos and everything the app learns about them stay on your device. We don't run servers that receive your data, we don't have accounts, and we don't collect, sell or share your data. The only network requests are optional ones to Apple, described below.
What the app accesses
- Your photo library, only with your permission. You can share all photos or a selection, and change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
- The app reads photos to group them, suggest and name albums, find duplicates, search and make memory cards.
- Camera, only when you scan a document. Scans are saved to your photo library only when you tap Save, and aren't sent anywhere.
- Microphone and speech recognition, only while you search by voice. Your voice is recognized on your device and isn't recorded or sent anywhere.
- Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. You can start a search or open an album or a place in the app from Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. This is handled by iOS on your device; nothing is sent to us.
How your photos are processed
- All analysis runs on your device, using Apple's Vision framework (what's in a photo, similar photos, text in photos, image quality).
- People (optional). If you choose photos of someone's face and give them a name (for example "Me"), the app keeps a numeric description of those faces and compares it with faces in your photos so Search can find them. This face data is created and stored only on your device, is never sent anywhere, and is deleted when you delete that person or the app.
- On supported devices, writing features (album names, summaries, captions, search understanding) use Apple Intelligence on-device models. Nothing is sent to us or to any server for this.
- Description search and Erase use models that run on your device. When you turn on description search, its model is downloaded from Apple's App Store servers; no photos or information about them are sent with that download.
- Results (labels, groupings, titles you add, memory cards, saved looks, preferences) are stored only on your device, inside the app and its Home Screen widget.
What leaves your device
- Nothing is sent to us. We run no servers that receive your data, and the app has no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- Place names (optional, off by default). If you turn on Settings › Show Place Names, an approximate location is sent to Apple's mapping service to look up a city name. Apple's privacy policy applies to that request. Photos are never sent.
- iCloud Photos. If you use iCloud Photos, changes you confirm (adding to albums, deleting, editing) sync through Apple the same way they do in the Photos app.
- Sharing. A memory card leaves your device only when you share it yourself with the share sheet.
- Purchases. Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app receives a confirmation from Apple that a purchase is active, only to unlock features.
Changes to your library
- The app only adds photos to albums, creates albums, edits or deletes photos after you confirm.
- Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted in Photos, where they can be recovered for about 30 days.
- Edits are saved as revertible Photos edits.
Data retention and deletion
- Data the app creates stays on your device until you delete it. Deleting the app removes it, including the widget's copies.
- You can also clear individual items in the app (for example, recent searches, memory cards and saved looks).
Children
The app isn't directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app.
